Bordeaux Mission
"Yeah, but it took him long enough. He's been back from his mission six years, and he only got married just last month." Plus, I didn't want to say it about my own sister, but if what they said about him was true, he probably could have done better. Matt said he used to have girls lined up around the block to date him, and Laura... Well, she wasn't exactly a dog, but...
"Wait a minute," said Elder Beaverton. "They got married last month and you're going home in less than a week? They couldn't have waited one more month so that you could be there for the ceremony?"
"Apparently not," I said. "They got married in the temple, and considering his weakness for you-know-what, I'm guessing they were cutting it pretty close with a six-week courtship." Actually, I wasn't sure I was too thrilled about this image of my innocent, returned-missionary sister being doinked by this leisure-suit-Larry who couldn't keep it in his pants to save his life. But it was her choice and the church found him temple-worthy, so I figured it was none of my business.
"Wow, I can't even imagine how my family would take it if I got sent home early," said Elder Beaverton. "You're lucky you're essentially done."
"I know," I agreed, "Thank heavens." Two years of hard work and faithful service, and all that was left was a few more days and one temple-recommend interview. It was too late to mess it up now.
